Bedlaying

Alan Sawyer arrived with one helper to fumigate and lay the raised beds today.  Per his advice I overhead irrigated about an inch or more of water yesterday.  Ran a rototiller immediately in advance of the mulch layer to mix up what little water was in the ground.  The beds came out beautifully all things considered.  The far edge of the field that was much more red clay and got missed by the big sprinkler gun rotation back when I subsoiled and bottom plowed was not as pretty as the rest of the beds.  Overall 95% of the field had excellent beds fully filled and tight.  We laid beds in the vegetable field for fall and spring veggies too.  This field did not get subsoiled and several of the rows didn't get enough soil pulled up.  The mulch layer was sliding on a very shallow hardpan created from decades of bottom plowing by my great uncle.
